about
A fun and creepy folk song about the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thanks to twitter user @TreeSmithMusic for the original idea to write a nursery rhyme about the coronavirus, tumblr user jus-tea for some of the lyrics and the format, and tumblr user neanderthyall for the final couplet. I wrote the rest of the lyrics and the tune. The post that inspired me can be viewed here: roseverdict.tumblr.com/post/615324115344244736/roseverdict-jus-tea-daddys-at-the-food
lyrics
Daddy’s at the food store, Mummy’s out of town,
She’s working at the hospital since Rhona came to town,
Hide away, hide away, Miss Rhona’s come to town,
Hide away, hide away, she’s come to take us down.
Miss Rhona’s at the doorstep, I’ll keep six feet away,
But Grandma needs the paper, I’ll take her one today,
Hide away, hide away, Miss Rhona’s come to stay,
Hide away, hide away, we can’t come out to play.
I'm missing all my friends, though we keep in touch by phone,
I'm learning what it is to truly be alone,
Hide away, hide away, even though you moan,
Hide away, hide away, or we'll be lying prone.
My love she says she misses the twinkle of my eyes,
But Rhona stalks the streets and to meet would be unwise,
Hide away, hide away, we hear the desperate cries,
Hide away, hide away, or see the bodies rise.
I feel myself a-coughin', I haven't got a mask,
It's work or die for me, though, so who am I to ask,
Hide away, hide away, Miss Rhona's on the task,
Hide away, hide away, she's come for me at last.
I need to see the sunlight, I've not been out in days,
And here’s a note from Rhona, she wanted me to say,
Hide away, hide away, keep 6 feet away,
Hide away, hide away, she took us down today.
The days all run together, I haven't changed my shirt,
We may be getting restless, but keep on the alert,
Hide away, hide away, Miss Rhona's quite the flirt,
Hide away, hide away, her touch is not inert.
Hide away, hide away, even though it hurts,
Hide away, hide away, or six feet will be dirt.

I do not normally cry because of music, or fiction in general. Chords made me cry. Every time I listen to it, it still feels like a warm, tight goodbye hug.
But it isn't what convinced me to buy this album, because damn, I knew I would right from the start of Secret Worlds, and knew it ever more at every song. The way the songs here can combine to tell a whole new story, and even reference others from The Horror and the Wild, is just magnificent. Mayana
I discovered this band mere weeks ago through pure chance; someone recommended Fair in a discussion about wholesome songs. And it was; love at first listen. YouTube recommended me Battle Cries next, so I gave that a listen too, and the the energy and the overlapping lyrics made me fall in love anew.
I bought this album and Ruin less than a day later. Everything TAD have made is true art, different from everything else I've heard. Mayana

Inspired by life in lockdown, Fuzzy Jones's new astral folk EP is sobering but playful, girded with expansive production and ample wit. Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 18, 2020
This is a great adaptation of Arthuriana and a brilliant narrative album. I love how the queerness of the characters is handled as an integral part of the narrative and plot development without it being the end all be all of the characters themselves. my boy Gawain deserved better though maritarvaniti
